Summer Programming Options For Children And Youth

After much research, conversation, and attempts at problem solving, Bishop Palmer announced that West Ohio Camps Summer residential programming is suspended for the 2023 season. This decision was not made quickly or without great pain. At the end of the day, we could not secure the staff necessary to live into our core values or provide the care and safety our families and staff expect and deserve.

We understand this has caused great disappointment; yet there are options available for children and youth to participate in this summer:

  • East Ohio Camps invite you to join them for a summer camp experience. All West Ohio Campers will receive $150 camper credit to attend an East Ohio Camp. To learn more information about East Ohio Camps or to register a camper you can visit the East Ohio Camps website.
  • High School students are invited to attend the special Youth Component of Mission u June 16-18. For more information, click here.

West Ohio Camps will continue providing off-site programming, bringing camp games, activities, crafts, food, and fun to several partners and communities across the conference. We now have several more dates available for staff to partner with local churches interested in off-site camp experiences. If your organization or church is interested in hosting an off-site experience please email: camps@wocumc.org.

As a conference ministry, West Ohio Camps and Retreats exists to help local churches make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. We look forward to continuing to partner with the church in this time of change.
